JD Stensland was born in Wolf Point, Montana, and raised on his family’s farm and cattle operation, which was homesteaded by his great-grandparents in 1914. Actively involved in FFA and Montana High School Rodeo, JD continued his agricultural and rodeo pursuits after high school, attending Dawson Community College on a rodeo scholarship while studying Agricultural Business. During that time, he also followed his passion for hunting, spending 12 consecutive falls guiding hunters for a local outfitter.

In 2007, JD and his wife, Kami, returned to the family ranch, where he worked alongside his father. A decade later, JD became the fourth-generation operator, taking over full management responsibilities in 2017. Early in his tenure, he converted the farm ground back to grass and implemented a high stock density adaptive grazing program. Today, he custom grazes yearlings, calves outside heifers, and manages the family cow herd — with soil health and grass management at the heart of the operation.

In 2024, JD combined his lifelong hunting passion with his business acumen to launch Circle S Outfitters, his own outfitting business. His deep interest in land and land management naturally led him to pursue his real estate license, which he obtained in 2025. JD believes firmly in respecting every landowner’s property as if it were his own.
